Not fun being on the bench
I’ve been on the bench most of the month of March. After my last race in Peterborough I got a slight injury to the stabilizer muscles in the lower right calf. My “massage therapist/ART/fixmeup please” person has been talking about the Tib. Post area if that makes sense. I know where the problem has been just couldn’t tell you what the name of the muscle(s) is.
Last week I came back a little too quickly. I ran two good days in a row (my perception) but the muscle was re-aggravated again and set me back again a few days again.
This past weekend I start with just a 20 minute run on Saturday. This was actually good. The next day I tried 30 and that also was okay. I supplemented each day with 30-40 minutes of spinning mostly to keep the weight off.
This week I took Monday as a rest day and had a good 47 minute run yesterday. No pain during the run yesterday so I’m happy. Today I’ll see how I feel but I’ll try for a similar run again today.
What I’m hoping is that the easier runs will gradually build back up to where I was. I may still be fine for the ATB race 2 weekends from now. As long as I’m healthy I’ll do the race.
